This is an issue of NME magazine; it contains a masthead, a picture of the main feature of the magazine and tells the audience everything that is inside the magazine. The masthead is in the top left hand corner and is the same colour like it is on every issue, this makes it easy to recognize and people who want to buy this particular magazine can easily tell this is NME. The main story inside the magazine involves Jay-Z and ‘Glastonbury Reborn’, we know this because this is written in the centre of the page and is in large writing.
There is a mid shot of Jay-Z at his concert which connotes coolness and looks like how the target audience for the magazine will want to look. This picture will help NME because audiences will think if Jay-Z is on the cover then this magazine is one they should buy.
At the bottom of the cover are more stories that are inside the magazine, the headline of the story is in big red letters and a small tag line about the story is underneath in a smaller black font. This shows their audience which music artist is involved in the story and a small teaser as to what the story is about. Across the top is more information about what’s in the magazine but there is less information about the story than there is about the stories at the bottom of the page. All it says is ’Secret Gigs’ and ‘Backstage stories’ then the names of the bands; this is so that the audience will have to buy the magazine to find out what the ’secret’ is- they are not giving away too much information about the stories on the cover as it could result in fewer buyers.
