Contents Analysis #1

The contents page of NME shares many of the features as the front cover which helps create the house style and consistency for the magazine.
NME uses the same colours for the contents page as on the front cover (black, white and red) the only colours not used again are pink and blue. They use the sans serif font which is easy to read and is conventional in magazines. Sub-headings are also used so the reader can easily find the article they want to read- a convention most magazines use. Cover lines that are shown on the front cover and what they want you to focus on have an arrow pointing to them saying ’On the cover’ and page numbers are next to the articles as this helps the reader find what they are looking for. The features on the contents page would appeal to their target audience because they would be bands that they are familiar with and information they would be interested in.
Additional information such as the small piece of writing in the middle of the page about the ‘Kasabian’ is used to attract the reader to the contents page aswell as the advert advertising a subscription service for NME at the bottom of the page. On the left hand side is a band index advertising all the artists that are featured in this specific issue and there are page numbers so the reader knows what page they are featured on.
