This is just a short summary on why i used the photographs i did.
For my main image on my front cover, i used a photograph of one of my close friends who is interested in the rock genre as my magazine edition is 'rock'. She is costumed mostly in black, with a contrasting pale complexion and red lipstick which works effectively with the red writing on her top 'Don't steal my thunder'. There are also images of another friend, who is dressed in red, in comparison with the red lipstick and red writing on the main image. He is wearing sunglasses, a baseball cap and a funky scarf to pull off an individual look- unlike the girl in the main image. A photograph taken from a gig is included on my front cover too, to help intrigue the audience and to give them a taster of some of the artists that will appear in the issue. Along with this is a photograph of a BLOC PARTY backstage pass that i receieved when i attended their concert. I thought this would be beneficial for my magazine as i could use it as a selling line to attract the audience.
Inside the magazine, on my contents page there are another six images used to help create the rock feel. The girl on the cover of the magazine is used for a second time- this time dressed in grey and black to keep the consistency of the house style. Another female is used, costumed in a red chequed shirt which compliments her red hair which is covering her face (relevant to the genre). She is also holding an airosol can and has her mouth wide open to create a wild/crazy effect. The image used for group 'JCS' consists of three good boy friends of mine. It was taken in central london just as the sun was setting to create the background effect that it has. Another image from a gig is used for the same purpose as on the cover- to draw the audience in. For my band 'TurlWinn' two of my close friends yet again were costumed in relation to the theme- Very dark, dominant eye makeup and a mixture of dull and bright clothing to contrast eachother. Finally there is a photograph of another male friend who is also dressed in red and sunglasses to appear similar to the male on my front cover- I like my audience to be able to make links between the images, in order to form some sort of relationship with the designer (me) and with the set theme.
Lastly, the images displayed on my double page spread are once again of the girl on the front cover. She appears a various number of times, dressed in similar colours and in a similar style as she has been moulded into this character for the main story of my magazine.
