Front Cover analysis 2

For this from cover anaylsis i am using 'rolling stone' magazine, which is derived from the band the rolling stones. This automatically tells the audience the magazine is classic rock orientated. Rolling also connotates moving forward and stone connotates solid an perhaps unmovable as a big music magazine. I will consider these points when it comes to naming the magazine as well as taking into account audience feedback.
The magazine is targeted at an older audience than that of the previously analysis kerrang as explained in the title and by the more timeless bands in the cover line: 'the police' and 'velvet revolver.' However, the use of Amy Winehouse as the main image means that their audience becomes more widespread as the magazine instantly appears more modern.
Amy is the main image an takes up two thirds of the page so the magazine is obviously using her presanse as a selling point as they want her to be recognised by the audience to draw them in. Amy may be a modern artist but her musical style is comparable to that of a bygone era of soul and this will attract a much older audience.
The text is more simplified then that of other front covers as its primary ofjective is to inform not attract as it is targeted at a more mature audience and therefore does not need fancy graphics and extravagant fonts. The white background contrasts with the black top amy is wearing and the use these black and white colours gives a timeless effect. She is also wearing a quite low cut top to sexually attract the male audience to buying the magazine an this is commonly used in all forms of media to sell products.
I dont think i will use this scheme of colour of layout when constructing my magazine as i will try to appeal to a younger audience an will therefore include more images, variable colour and more eye catching fonts.
